Cultural Resilience

Arts and culture are essential to promoting collective memory, healing, and liberation. The organizations that participated in the Community Development Investments program worked with artists to accelerate equity in their communities powered by the cultural resilience of low-income communities and communities of color. These projects served to:

  • Create or enhance spaces to make them culturally relevant (Church of Love, 3600 Spenard Plaza, Community Catalyst Residency, Reimagining the Jackson Medical Mall, 341 FSN, Terasaki Budokan
  • Reflect the cultural diversity and heritage of residents (West Park Arts Fest, +LAB artist residency, JMMF Intergenerational Programs)
  • Support storytelling to enhance communal narratives (Story Gathering and Listening with Ping Chong + Company, This Land Is Milan)
