Affordable Housing
Across the country, non-profit housing developers are searching for more ways to prevent housing insecurity, displacement, and homelessness while also creating healthy communities of opportunity. The organizations that participated in the Community Development Investments program worked with artists on interventions to address their affordable housing challenges. These projects served to:
- Engage with residents about their needs and lifestyles to inform the design, maintenance, and preservation of housing (Living Big, Living Small; Healthy Housing Initiative; Milan Listening House)
- Create on-site cultural, economic, and health and wellness opportunities (Daimaru Hotel, Grand Terrace Photo League, Solace Apartments, 3600 Spenard Plaza)
- Bring attention to local housing issues (A Prairie Homeless Companion)
- Advance new ways of thinking, exploring, and implementing comprehensive community planning (SWMHP Artist Residency)
